Local 601 holds the General Membership Meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of every Month. Union Meetings are 5:30pm and last until adjournment. Typically, meetings last about one hour. Meetings are open to all union members. When facing the building, enter through the double doors on the right of the main building. Local 601 also conducts meetings over Teams.
If you are a Shop Steward from a bid location more than 25 miles from the Local the membership approves up to 2 days off the clock to attend the monthly meetings of your choosing in person for up to 3 members per month. The selection of those 3 members will be approved in the order that they are received (first come first serve). The meeting is the third Tuesday of the month at 530pm. The months you choose to attend in person you will need to submit your ‘notice to attend’ to Recording Secretary, Melissa Hopson, if selected, a time off request will be submitted to your manager. We ask that you try to be as frugal as possible in taking the time off the clock by taking flights that will get you to the meeting but also allow you to work as much of your shift as possible. If you are unable to return to your station due to no flights after the meeting, the membership also approves a one-night hotel stay. You are free to stay anywhere you choose but will only be reimbursed up to the maximum of the following amounts: October 1 thru April 30 $160 including tax per night and May 1 thru September 30 $270 including tax per night. If you do not need the hotel for any reason, you must cancel the reservation by the time given at the time of booking. If you do not cancel, you will be responsible for all fees associated with the reservation.
For all Stewards the Company is required to give you 2 hours off the clock, with a minimum of 24-hour notice (please give your schedulers as much notice as possible) as Company Business to attend the monthly meeting. If you are attending virtually, you must be in a private area with your video camera on at all times. If you are at your work location, please work with the manager to be in an area where the door can be closed and no one other than members are in the room actually attending the meeting. Only Stewards are granted the 2 hours off the clock; all others must be on their own time to attend the meeting virtually.
